A little introduction

Beneath the harsh concrete exterior of Romania's capital Bucharest, lies a rapidly expanding city full of beautiful parks, cafes and wonderfully kind people.

I first came to Bucharest two years ago with the expectation of a deprived and dirty city filled with ravenous gypsies - as shown by the British media. There is truth in this statement as it was a mere 24 years ago that the country and people were freed of communism. Rebuilding a city of this size takes time and money, however vast improvements have been made even during the two years I have been here.

I hope this blog can entail the more appealing parts of the city with its long summers and hidden secrets, as well as the harder truths of street dogs and apartments in disrepair.
